The Shawnee RC&D is proud to announce that one of our projects was ranked number 1 for the Northeast and Midwest region by Forest Service Eastern Region leadership! This project is a Lanscape Scale Restoration project that is funded by the Forest Service. Our project is called Large-Scale Oak Hickory Ecosystem Restoration in Southern Illinois. It provides funding for the coordination of the Southern Ilinois Prescribed Association, a forest technician to assist district foresters of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources with the development and implementation of forest management plans, a computer for the forest technician, and $91,000 to fund forest stand improvement thinning, non-native invasive species control, and tree planting. We would like to acknowledge and thank partners with the Forest Service and the proposal writing team. This proposal was a collaborative effort between the Forest Service, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Shawnee RC&D, River to River Cooperative Weed Management Area, and Let The Sun Shine In. Also, special thanks to Ameren for their contributions to the project. Check out the ranked list at: FY23-LSR-Ranked-List-20230201.pdf | Powered by Box
