It’s focus includes education, early deduction, prevention, control and research.

S.I. Prescribed Burn Association
The Southern Illinois Prescribed Burn Association is a multi-county partnership of private landowners and area conservationists working together to restore and maintain landscapes using controlled fire application. Prescribed burning is a key land management tool used to maintain native prairie, oak-hickory forest, old fields, and barrens.

Let the Sun Shine In! (LSSI) is an innovative conservation program aimed at maintaining and restoring oak-dominated forest communities. To help save the forest ecosystem of Southern Illinois, the LSSI program works directly with land owners to promote forest management techniques that allow more sunlight into the forests to improve plant life & native habitats.
