SPARK IL PBA Resources
The mission of Spark IL PBAs is to increase prescribed fires on the Illinois Landscape by starting PBAs, increasing landowner education, and advocating the practice. We encourage accurate recording of all burns, successful and unsuccessful, to build a recorded database for private land prescribed burns.
What is a PBA
Prescribed Burn Associations (PBAs) are groups of landowners and other interested people who form partnerships to pool their knowledge, equipment, and other resources to conduct prescribed fires. PBAs provide training to build an active community of engaged landowners. (Landscape partnership.org)
IL Prescribed Fire Act
In Illinois, prescribed fire is an accepted agricultural practice. Public Act 095-0108 authorizes and promotes “the continued use of prescribed burning for ecological, forest, wetland, wildlife management, and grassland management purposes.”
View the guidelines linked below to comply with the Prescribed Fire Act.
